Chapter Nineteen:
Clarice
I woke up smiling down at the way I had messed with Travis last night. The fact that the weather was so bad only added more to the dramatics of what I did.
See, I went back to the house that night when Richard was sleep, so I could put a tracker on the car Travis was driving that I couldn’t put on there earlier that day. While I was there, it was thundering and lightening so bad that Travis took his scary ass on up to the bedroom. I knew from earlier that he had to go out to meet his connect, Rock, so I wouldn’t have much time to do what I needed to do.
After I got inside the garage to put the tracker under the car, I went back inside the house to find Travis. I was very careful with my movement. The lights were out all over the lower level of the house, so I had to remember where everything was. I didn’t want to bump into anything or anyone. Knowing Travis, when the weather got bad, he sent everyone home. Hell, even his scary ass wasn’t going to stay in that house by himself.
When I located him, he was upstairs in the room, seemingly packing an overnight bag. I began to spook him by flipping the lights off and on. When they were on, he could see a glimpse of me standing by the lights. I could see him inching closer to me, trying to put his hands on me. When he got a little too close for my enjoyment, I turned the lights off and headed out the door. I ran right back to the car that was parked at the shed and got the hell away from that property.
When I arrived back at home, Richard was also gone. Where he was, I didn’t know, but I knew I was going to have to listen to his mouth about me leaving the house again.
The next morning, I rose to the smell of bacon in the air. That just meant that Richard was in the kitchen getting down. That’s something I will definitely miss when it’s time for me to go; a man being in the kitchen cooking for me. Wouldn’t that be something for men to be barefoot in the kitchen cooking and cleaning?
“Mmmm… that smells good,” I hungrily stated to him, as I walked up behind him to steal a piece of bacon.
“Dang, somebody being greedy this morning I see. You can’t even wait for me to finish cooking?” he asked, chuckling at the sight of me continuing trying to steal more bacon.
“Sorry, I must have worked up an appetite in my sleep.”
“You sure it was in your sleep? Maybe it has something to do with the little trip you took while I was sleep.”
“Low blow I see. Well, if you must know, I had to go handle something.”
“Reese, what the hell is going on? Every time I turn around, you have something to do that you can’t let me in on.
